Shield
The colors blue and gray refer to the rich heritage and tradition of the State of Virginia and together with the spear, a reference to Virtus triumphant over Tyranny from the state seal, allude to the home area of the unit. The field is quartered, indicative of the four major areas of service provided–administration, medical, supply and transport; and maintenance which is further represented by the color crimson. The heraldic fer de moline, or millstone support, is symbolic of the basic mission of the organization.
Crest
The crest is that of the Virginia Army National Guard.
